Why Culturematics Matter

Strictly speaking, the Culturematic doesn’t look like a promising way to discover the next new thing. How can innovation come from something so clumsy, so random, so risky?

Culturematics matter because the world is becoming more and more inscrutable. As business management expert Michael Raynor says, “The future is deeply unpredictable.”1 We know change is coming, but for Intel’s Andy Grove, this change is something “no amount of formal planning can anticipate.”2 Normally, in situations like this, we would turn to the experts and gurus. But they give us book titles that fan our anxiety instead of calm it: Faster, Blur, Out of Control, Blown to Bits, Fast Forward, Creative Destruction.3
