Ultimately, retail supply chain member firms should realize benefits from Big Data use, reflected by superior performance with respect to their major competitors, both in terms of operations and finance. However, as the results in Figure 16 suggest, firms in the least advanced states are still trading off performance indicators (e.g., efficiency versus effectiveness) as expected. In particular though, it is telling to see that those at the initiation state consider themselves to be the most effective, whereas those who have started doing something about Big Data consider themselves to be the most efficient.
