Chapter 11An Arctic, Aquatic Groundhog Day

We cast off our lines and made our shortest cruise of the loop. The winds were beastly, but manageable. Shielded by the trees on the shore, our approach and mooring went without a hitch. There, we found the support and the facilities we’d missed at Grand Harbor.

The staff expertly helped us tie up and worked to make the pump out work for us in the brief hours that the temperatures snuck above freezing. They had a dedicated water line we could use that was protected against the cold. They even had laundry. Maggie decided to take advantage of those facilities, and I took Emmy for a good long walk. She was downright frisky in the cold.
