Chapter 32We Wondered Who Was Pranking Us

With Kayla and Alex still on board, we tiptoed through the morning routine of casting off. We’d need to get through one more lock and then more than seventy miles to make it to Montreal for their flight back to Texas. We started working on a backup plan in case the fickle Champlain springtime weather derailed us. If we couldn’t make it all the way to Montreal, we’d let the visitors off in Chambly, a small town to the southeast of Montreal. The quaint tourist destination was about an hour away by car, or seven by boat if we hurried.
