One of my favorite jokes was told to me by a professor I had at Boston University. He told me about the difference between advertising and PR.
He told me that advertising is when you’re in a pub and see a beautiful woman across the bar from you. You walk up to her, tell her you’re amazing, and expect her to come home with you. Chances are, you’ll get a drink thrown in your face, as she rolls her eyes and turns back to her friends to talk about the idiot who just unsuccessfully tried to hit on her. That’s advertising.
