Value Starvation and Ethics

Many companies resort to unethical practices, or questionable practices, but kid themselves (and try to kid the public) that they are doing something to improve business. One such example is Volkswagen, which fudged emissions data.

VW has been in the news as its chiefs, CEO Diess, Chairman Poetsch, and former CEO Winterkorn, were charged criminally for withholding information on poor emissions and cheating. Possible market manipulating is alleged and the US SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission) is also suing on similar charges. It was 4 years ago that the US EPA stated that VW had been selling vehicles that polluted more than allowable limits. This scandal is now known as Dieselgate.
