How to Use What You Make

You want to make something from the book. But how do you choose which design best suits your needs?

It can be a difficult decision. To help you narrow the choice, here are a few questions you should ask yourself. Depending on your answers, some of the designs in the book will be more appropriate than others. Try not to automatically choose a personal favourite. For any number of reasons, it may be unsuitable.

So, ask yourself:

Why are you making it?

(as a promotion, as a toy, to educate, to inform …?)

What information is it conveying?

(about a new product or service, the location of a party …?)

Who is it for?

(the general public, friends, children, business people…?)

How will you give it?

(send it by mail, give it in ...
