SERGE BLOCH

Serge Bloch is an author and illustrator whose humorous collages mix drawings and found imagery. Based in Paris, his work has been published and exhibited around the world. To Bloch, collage is ‘adding an element that is dense and pictorial to whatever my means of expression is’, explaining that it is the combination of two moments – that of collecting the source imagery and then of the spontaneous drawing – that makes his work interesting and unique: ‘The little ticket becomes the mouth of the character, which seems to be waiting for its turn to speak; the old light socket becomes a dog’s head; a passport photograph is attached ...
