QUISQUEYA HENRIQUEZ
Quisqueya Henriquez divides her time between the Dominican Republic and Miami, enjoying the freedom of working between two different cultures. Her striking, graphic collages often use newspaper imagery. Taken out of context these help to make powerful new visual statements: ‘One image seen by thousands of people transforms itself, acquiring other meanings, other destinies.’ Many people who saw her series featuring baseball players didn’t even realize that collage was the process used, because it was difficult to decipher between the cut-out image and the paper below.
