Alex Rose’s deliberately ambiguous collages feature ‘horses, flowers, boys, birds… the magazine boys within the collages are substitutes for people I don’t know, people I know that I’ll never be able to speak to.’ Born in Limerick, Ireland, he began his career at the age of 13 by collecting cast-offs and making shrines for much-loved family pets.
