4.1 Introduction

Networks, connections, and relationships drive human survival and growth through interaction and innovation. No matter how new they seem, innovations and inventions have always depended on expanding and adapting previously established ideas. Take electricity for an example. If not for Homo erectus discovering fire millions of years ago, there would have been no basis for the concepts leading to the discovery of electricity. Fire discovery led to using candles and light to use at night during the dark. This, in turn, led to the ideas enabling the utilization of electricity. Light has been a significant phase of humanity.
