Introduction
Corruption is a social plague that decreases social and economic wealth (Dela Rama 2011; Kaptein 2011; Lange 2008), limiting investment and growth and leading to ineffective government (Jain 2001; Langseth 1999; Lintjer 2000; Rose-Ackerman 1999; Schneider 2007; World Bank 2004a).
Over the years, many scholars have studied corruption, investigating and measuring its effects (Das and Parry 2011; Tanzi 1998; World Bank 2004a), causes (Ades and Di Tella 1996), and prevention strategies ( Nielsen 2003).
