Appendix D. Loopback Interface Configuration Procedures

This appendix presents the steps you follow to configure a loopback interface on multiple operating systems to support the dispatch and DSR load-balancing modes. Under these modes of operation, the servers in the server farm must be configured with the IP address of the VIP to ensure the packets sent by the load balancer are processed by the servers. If the servers are not configured with the IP address of the VIP, the packets are dropped because the destination IP address does not match the server’s IP address.
