Dealing with storage growth scenarios is where SLA approaches and tiered storage show extraordinary advantages over single-tiered storage. For the sake of easy comparison (see Table 9.1), I’ll use a total single tier of 100 TB, and compare that to 20 TB Tier 1 and 80 TB Tier 2.
For this single tier, let’s assume a typical single-tier, middle-of-the-road (compromise) configuration with mirrored drives, not replicated.
