Data collection and analysis
Abstract:
Apply knowledge gleaned from the environmental data scan to data gathering and analysis. What data do you need to measure? Who is the audience? What needs to be done with the data? Think of data like a funnel; the further away the audience is from the data, the less detail is needed. Descriptive statistics summarize and describe the data. Common measures are the average, frequency counts and range. Dispersion, variability, skew and kurtosis describe the distribution of the data. Charts and graphs are used to display the data, dependent on the number of variables to be displayed and the message to be delivered. Dynamic charts are also a possibility.
