It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Metropolitan Area Network
A MAN is a network of computers spread over a “metropolitan” area such as a city and its suburbs
(Figure 1.13). As the name suggests, this sort of network is usually reserved for metropolitan areas
where the city bridges its LANs with a series of backbones, making one large network for the entire
city. It may be a single network such as a cable television network or it may be a means of connecting
