Writing in the first person, I freely admit that I write code with a number of

idiosyncrasies, and thus my code looks a little different from that written by other

people. I have written a lot of code in my life, and I believe that a large part of

writing good code that works correctly is simply a matter of forcing oneself to do

things to compensate for one’s known bad habits. I comment here on some of the

peculiarities of the way I write code that have allowed me to write better (in my
