9.1 Introduction
Business intelligence is a key application area for data virtualization. The data-oriented nature of data virtualization fits the data-oriented nature of business intelligence very well. But other important application areas do exist for data virtualization. One of them is service-oriented architecture (SOA), the topic of this chapter.
