Chapter 10. Making Maps with Leaflet and Rails
In this chapter you learn about creating maps using a JavaScript library called Leaflet. We update all three of the apps that we have built throughout the book.
We begin learning about mapping with Leaflet by updating the weather app to show the location of all the weather stations that reported temperature in 1836.
Next we map the location of all the airports in California and implement a clustering strategy to visually simplify areas with high concentrations of airports. Once we’ve mapped the airports we will draw a flight path between two airports at opposite ends of the state.
Finally, we update the Maryland residential sales app by importing a shapefile for the zip codes so that we can map them. ...
