Database security and protection are receiving more attention and budget from organizations due to the steady increase in data breaches and the resultant regulations (see next chapter) designed to abate them. However, database security still requires more focus and effort. According to a 2005 report from Forrester Research, 75 percent of enterprises do not have a DBMS security plan.
