So far, we have discussed protecting the database, the data in tables, the objects inside the database, backing up, importing, and exporting. Let’s now turn our attention to the host where the database binaries and database applications (Oracle, SQL Server, and so on) are hosted. These databases can be hosted on Linux, Unix, and Windows. While installation itself is a breeze, maintenance of the database package (known as relational database management systems or RDBMS) takes time, regular patchwork, viewing the logs, and so on.
