28.1 Introduction
Teradata relational database management system was developed by Teradata, a software company that develops and sells a relational database management system with the name “Teradata”, founded in 1979 by a group of people namely, Dr. Jack E. Shemer, Dr. Philip M. Neches, Walter E. Muir, Jerold R. Modes, William P. Worth and Carroll Reed. Between 1976 and 1979, the concept of Teradata grew out of research at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) and from the discussions of Citibank's advanced technology group.
