Da es sich hier um einen explorativen Prozess handelt, ist unser Arbeitsablauf eher chaotisch, was es schwierig macht, den Überblick zu behalten. Es ist wichtig, dass unsere Schritte nachvollziehbar sind, sowohl für uns als auch für andere. Wenn du ein Projekt von vor einiger Zeit weiterführst, ist es gut möglich, dass du vergessen hast, welche Befehle du in welchem Verzeichnis, mit welchen Dateien, mit welchen Parametern und in welcher Reihenfolge ausgeführt hast. Stell dir vor, wie schwierig es ist, dein Projekt mit einem Kollegen zu teilen.
Du kannst einige Befehle wiederherstellen, indem du die Ausgabe des Befehls history durchsuchst, aber das ist natürlich kein zuverlässiger Ansatz. Ein etwas besserer Ansatz wäre es, deine Befehle in einem Shell-Skript zu speichern. So können du und deine Mitarbeiter das Projekt zumindest reproduzieren. Ein Shell-Skript ist jedoch aus mehreren Gründen ebenfalls suboptimal:
