Choosing and Using Lenses

In a paradox that continues to astonish me, the Sony a7 II full-frame lineup, which includes the a7R II and a7 II, simultaneously has the fewest native lenses available of any full-fledged system camera, but yet boasts the largest range of compatible lenses of any competing line-up. Although the number of Sony and Zeiss FE-mount lenses is still relatively small (fewer than two dozen as I write this), there is a much larger number of APS-C format (non-full-frame) E-mount lenses available, most of which will operate with all full autofocus and autoexposure functions intact. That’s a particularly good match with the a7R II, which gives you 18-megapixel images even in APS-C crop mode.
