Manipulating Data on Data Sources
In DB2 UDB v8.1, you are able to write data to a federated data source. As a result, you can now issue INSERT, UPDATE, and DELETE statements on nicknames. This also enables you to replicate data from federated data sources.
NOTE
For the data sources accessible to DB2 UDB v8.1, INSERT, UPDATE, or DELETE statements against nicknames cannot involve LOB values.
To INSERT, UPDATE, or DELETE data using a nickname, the privileges held by the authorization ID of the statement must include the following:
The appropriate privilege on the nickname (for the federated database to accept the request)
The appropriate privilege on the underlying table object (for the data source to accept the request) ...
