Sofie is CEO and cofounder of hiveonline, the community-finance platform building better economies for African entrepreneurs. Sofie spent nearly 30 years in international banking, delivering technology, infrastructure, and business transformation in eight global banks, before setting up hiveonline. She has a MSc in informatics and is the author of two books, including Fintech Revolution: Universal Inclusion in the New Financial Ecosystem, and several research papers, including “Blockchain: Gateway for Sustainability Linked Bonds”1 and “The Next Generation Humanitarian Distributed Platform.”2 Sofie chairs the Edinburgh Futures Institute's Fintech and FS Industry Advisory Board and advises the UN, central banks, and international governmental groups on sustainable applications of fintech. Sofie is a Cartier Women's Initiative Fellow and recipient of several awards, including Innovate Finance's Women in Fintech Powerlist and The FinTech Times’ 10 Women Rising Stars in Crypto.
