7. Convolutional Neural Networks

This chapter describes convolutional neural networks (CNNs). CNNs are used everywhere in AI, including image recognition and speech recognition. This chapter will detail the mechanisms of CNNs and how to implement them in Python.

Overall Architecture

First, let's look at the network architecture of CNNs. You can create a CNN by combining layers, much in the same way as the neural networks that we have seen so far. However, CNNs have other layers as well: a convolution layer and a pooling layer. We will look at the details of the convolution and pooling layers in the following sections.
