To What End?
My first foray into corporate DEI work was a humiliating culture shock experience. Having gained much of my DEI experience up until that point in higher education, I hadn’t realized that something as fundamental as “why we do DEI work” was a contentious topic. In my mind, the “why” was as simple as “it’s the right thing to do,” and from that starting point, we could then focus on the challenges of actually making change.
