Chapter 7: Channel estimation methods

Everyone sees what you appear to be, few experience what you really are.

Abstract

Accurate channel estimation at the receiver is essential for OTFS detection. In this chapter, we present the embedded pilot-aided channel estimation methods for OTFS in the delay-Doppler domain and delay-time domain. For both methods, we first introduce the arrangement of pilot, guard, and data symbols in the delay-Doppler grid at the transmitter. We then introduce the delay-Doppler and delay-time channel estimation methods. As a result of our specific embedded symbol arrangements, channel estimation can be performed within the same OTFS frame with minimum overhead. Finally, we present a real-time software-defined ...
