Installation/Setup
For our purposes, we will only be installing the Mono runtime environment. If you have an interest in understanding Mono in more depth, I encourage you to install the source and build Mono with its own C# compiler, mcs.
The Mono runtime environment is most quickly set up on Linux through an RPM distribution. Packages for various versions of Red Hat, Fedora, Mandrake, and SuSe are available through Novell/Ximian’s Red Carpet installation utility.
