Creating a backup copy is just one part of securing the ConfigMgr server. The second part--and this might be even more important--is to check whether the backup copy can be used for restoring. This is a very important step, which makes the administrator sure that the backup they've taken is actually useful.
In environments with a central administration site, backup should start from that server, followed one-by-one by all the servers that comprise the ConfigMgr environment. Ideally, each backup job should be done at a different time.
