Chapter 3. Next-Generation Multicast VPNS
Draft Rosen based MVPNs offered an operator with the ability of providing a customer specific multicast infrastructure, that could extend a customer multicast domain across a provider backbone. However certain inherent limitations with the Draft Rosen approach as detailed in the section below had technologists think about alternates to this approach. This chapter discusses a next generation of multicast VPNs, which addresses limitations seen with Draft Rosen and offer closer integration with transport and control plane.
