When considering the impact of climate change on building construction, the project teams found it was much harder to obtain useful information on which to base their decisions and responses than in the case of thermal comfort.

While UKCP09 includes projections for all of the principal climate parameters that affect environmental design, there are gaps for factors that affect construction, particularly for wind and soil moisture. Not only is the required basic climatic data not available to the same level of completeness and robustness, but what information there is has not been “translated” into a form that can be used directly with familiar design standards and tools.
