Preface

The 2010 report, Design for Future Climate: Opportunities for Adaptation in the Built Environment, was intended as a primer to support teams involved in the Technology Strategy Board’s Design for Future Climate programme. It provided background information and some pointers as to the issues that a changing climate may raise for the construction industry and its clients. Rather than fund theoretical research, the Technology Strategy Board (TSB) chose to provide substantial additional design fees to live projects in order to enable the teams and their clients to thoroughly explore the potential impacts of a changing climate on their proposals for real buildings.
