I’m a lousy futurist. I sat through the late nineties without making a dime in the stock market. I probably would have bought a Betamax if I’d been buying electronics in the eighties. I can barely keep track of my own schedule a few weeks out.

So I’m not going to make any bets about the future and commit them to print where they can embarrass me later. Instead, I’m going to talk about right now. When it comes to virtual community, there’s all sorts of incredible stuff percolating in the web’s nooks and crannies, just around the corner from going big.
