What is action research?

Action research is not a single method or methodology but refers to various approaches that involve working collaboratively with people facing a concern that needs some deliberate action to address it. Such collaboration creates buy-in for implementing the change that accompanies the action. The people working with the action researcher on the issue of concern are treated as co-researchers rather than informants. Action research is a cyclical process alternating between action and reflection upon the action to initiate further action to improve the situation of concern.
