A media ecology approach and the context challenge
Abstract: We describe the operations, features, and implications of wearable computing (a computing system worn by the user like clothing). The interactional considerations between users and wearable computing are examined following the ideas of J. C. R. Licklider, Andy Clark, Marshall McLuhan, Neil Postman and the concept of Media Ecology. We argue that understanding the environment created by wearable computing as well as its psychological and social impact is crucial to approach this technology.
