5.2. Basic Concept

The scalar concept of “optimality” of single-objective optimization problems does not apply directly in the multiobjective setting. To understand the concept and solution techniques, the notion of Pareto optimality has to be introduced. In this section, we start by introducing the criterion space by revisiting the simple MOO example of Example 5.1. We then introduce basic terminologies to facilitate our later discussion. With the basic concept discussed, we revisit the pyramid example to reinforce the concept.
