Elders
The final stage that Kim identifies in her life cycle model is that of the Elder. Elders are long-term members of a community who are essentially keepers of the community's stories, culture, and rituals, which—as shown in the next chapter on Belonging—is critical to community success. They've been members for a long time and have exerted tremendous influence on and earned the respect of the members. Elders have influenced and shaped the community in clearly recognizable ways, and their influence and contributions are honored by the majority of the established membership.
