A DATA WAREHOUSE IS AN EXTENSION OF THE DATABASE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (DBMS), WHICH CONSOLIDATES INFORMATION FROM VARIOUS SOURCES INTO A HIGH-LEVEL, INTEGRATED FORM USED TO IDENTIFY TRENDS AND MAKE BUSINESS DECISIONS. For a large company, the amount of information in a data warehouse could be up to several trillion bytes, or terabytes (TB). The technologies that are used to build data warehouses include relational databases; powerful, scalable processors; and sophisticated tools to manipulate and analyze large volumes of data and identify previously undetectable patterns and relationships.
