This chapter introduces you to the architecture, features, and design details of Cisco’s appliance-based load balancer, the Content Services Switch (CSS). We will discuss the CSS 11500 series platform. The Cisco CSS 11500 Series is made up of high-performance, high-availability modular architecture load balancers for web infrastructures. There are three models of the CSS 11500 series platform: CSS 11501, CSS 11503, and CSS 11506.
