Chapter 7. Load Balancing Streaming Video Servers
This chapter introduces the reader to the concept of load balancing streaming video servers. We will look at the benefits of using load balancing with streaming video servers, and also review video streaming technology. We will examine streaming video servers with the Application and Content Networking System (ACNS) and the types of servers used. In order to understand the load balancing of streaming video servers, we will take an in-depth look at the protocols used for this purpose. Since ACNS software on the Cisco Content Engine (CE) possesses extensive video streaming functionality, we will be using CE as a video proxy example in the case study section of this chapter.
