Chapter 19. Maintaining Database Integrity

Imagine that you’re the owner of a small manufacturing company, and you’ve been working very hard to lure a certain customer away from a larger, better-established competitor. You finally convince the customer to give you a try, but you have to deliver the merchandise within 48 hours. You check with manufacturing and they can do it (just barely), so you break out the champagne.

Ten minutes later, there’s trouble. It seems the accountant won’t sign off on the order until the customer’s credit has been approved, which will take a week, and without a signed order manufacturing can’t proceed. What do you do?
