Game design documents take many forms and vary greatly in formality. I’ve designed games simply on a series of sticky notes as well as created hundreds of pages of detailed documentation. The goal, however, is to communicate the game experience to your team and stakeholders in enough detail so that they can build the game. This chapter explores common types of game design documents and the information that is generally included in them.
