Creating a High-Level Network Design
Although there are many methods for creating a network design and addressing capacity planning, we suggest that you approach the process by creating a physical network design, then planning capacity for software and hardware.
We recommend the following overall process for creating a physical network design:

Start with a generic high-level network design that includes as many tiers or layers as needed. Identify all major network components within the infrastructure. We recommend that you create a diagram of your network design to document all components during this process. |
