Selecting Servers

After selecting software, select the server components. Choose servers that support the OE and services in such a manner that components integrate to deliver the desired reliability, availability, scalability, and performance as in your architectural model arrived at in Chapter 3.

Determine Server Types

To support services, determine server type and tier for each class of server: front-end servers, mid-range servers, and back-end servers. TABLE 6-17 lists servers, specifications, and associated tiers.
