Appendix B presents the details of the tagname system presented in this book, with complete ‘dictionaries’ of the fragments used in each part of the tagnames. The tagname fragments are based upon the many water and wastewater system projects that I have developed.
B.1 Tagname Signal Naming Convention
The TSNC, or Tagname Signal Naming Convention, consists of 15 characters arranged into four fragments or elements; the elements are separated by an underscore, a hyphen or a period. Some SCADA Human Machine Interface (HMI) software may not allow the use of some of these delimiters, so the user will have to use whatever works best in their system.
