A marketplace of training will develop on the Web. Competition will emerge in common subject areas, and courses will compete like books. Costs will drop and quality will improve.

For popular subjects, mass markets will develop over time. Already, some classes at the Open University in the United Kingdom have an enrollment of 10,000 [80]. The Web should enable even larger markets for courses.

Such mass markets will produce economies of scale—and enormous profits. They will also create secondary markets for more handcrafted WBT for smaller audiences on narrower subjects.
