Chapter 16. A CSS Redesign
This book ends where nearly all subsequent “web standards” books begin: with a CSS layout. In this chapter, we’ll take what we’ve learned in the others, toss in some new ingredients, shake vigorously, and pour ourselves a site that separates the web designers from the wannabes. Well, anyway, it will separate structure and behavior from presentation.
The previous edition of this book also closed with a CSS layout. At the time, the design ideas and construction methods detailed in the chapter were new and rare. Almost nobody back then used CSS to design “real” websites. We were stepping into uncharted turf, armed only with a dream and an Eric Meyer CSS pocket reference.
