So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Chapter 1. Business Integration
Business integration is the discipline that enables companies to identify, consolidate, and optimize business processes. The objective is to improve productivity and maximize organizational effectiveness. Interest in business integration has become more acute as companies merge and consolidate, and as they grow a legacy of disparate information assets. These assets often lack consistency and coordination, thus giving rise to “islands of information.”
As we go through this book, you will notice that business integration has strong links to BPM and SOA. Although there is no question that SOA stands for Service-Oriented Architecture, BPM is sometimes thought of as Business Process Modeling. We think of it as an abbreviation ...
